Organizing my life
Praise,
I was a mess last year.
Yes, I did a lot, but I was a mess. I forgot promises, unwillingly ignored deadlines, took bad projects, messed onboarding timelines, had some of the worst project closes, and the fancy word for it was "spontaneity".
But the truth is, I was a mess—until I met Notion.
Notion is king, and I'll tell you why in a minute.
Last year, over 30% of my revenue came from word of mouth—led largely by O'Gbemiro. Another 30% came from designer collaborations—led by Mudia. I worked on over 50 projects across strategy, branding, product and publication design.
How'd I know this? Notion told me. I wrote down everything I did, and it was beautiful!
Then I stopped. Now, I'm a mess again.
We crave automation when it comes to organising our lives. "Why can't it just automatically record when I do it?", you say, "I'll get a personal assistant". Then, you ghost on your P.A. because 'spontaneity".
I know it. I've been there. You want find your Donna, rather than be one.
Today, I'd be reorganising my Notion HQ for the long term. I'll tell you what I intend to use it for.
- Manage all project timelines, deliverables—freelance, contract and pro-bono. * Document my design process for each project. * Keep client in the loop with a page for easy monitoring. * Draw out a learning path for myself, with deadlines. * Manage my personal brand strategy execution task list. * Build systems and templates out for repetitive processes so I don't have to bother myself about them again. * Improve my client onboarding processes. * Manage my experiments. * Manage my marketing.
And that's just the ones I can currently remember, because I need to jump back to that task and finish before 7AM.
While I am working on a Freelancer HQ template so you don't have to start from scratch yourself, what you can also expect if you sign up for that template is a 3-day crash course on:
- How to use Notion to manage productivity * How to document your creative process * How to keep your clients in the loop
It is definitely paid, somewhere between the 6,999.99 - 9,999.99 NGN range, with 40% of it going to support a community I love dearly.
But for y'all, I'll probably throw in a sweetener. What? I don't know yet!
Wish me luck!
PS: Notion is only one of my productivity tools. The company I work at uses ClickUp. I use Google Calendar to manage all of my events across board.
I am still looking for a really good cloud storage service—Dropbox, Mega & Google Drive don't seem to cut it. Try not to mention OneDrive please.
I do not use Airtable, because I have not had to. I hear it's a pretty good option too. Notion does what I need it to, so I'll stick with it for now.
PPS: I'll share an update later today on what I have done so far.
