Figuring out productivity
Hey,
Over the last few weeks, I have tried to hack my productivity by trying out stuff. A number of them worked so well ... but didn't last long.
So, I thought to share them with you today. They might work amazingly well for you, or you probably already do them.
For context, I work remotely, and I do a lot of meetings than is advised.
One.
Sleeping early and waking early, but it doesn't stop there. Having a morning routine as soon as you wake up is an amazing to get your day ready to go.
When I tried this, I slept 10 PM, woke up 5 AM, read to go from 8 AM. The routine I used then was a jog round the estate, clean up my house, take a bath, morning devotion, and voila!
I find that the rest of day with a certain level of clarity about how to finish my tasks.
Two.
Don't hold Google Meets that could easily be a phone call. If it has to be a Google Meet, it should be less than 30 minutes.
This is less practical because sometimes, you're not in charge of those meetings, so you can't really decide how long they'll take. But for those you're in charge of, try it.
Sometimes, all you need is a Slack message.
Three
Alternate work and personal. Finish three tasks at work. Finish one personal task. Completing personal tasks give you more dopamine rush because it makes you feel more in control ... and if it is a side project, you could have that day with one less impostor syndrome for the road.
The best way to this is to ensure that whatever personal project you're working on is broken down into tasks that you can track over a period of time.
Four
Section your day.
When I tried this, I did company work, 9 - 5. I took a nap, 5 - 8. Personal work, 9 - 4. Another nap, 4 - 8.
It worked alright, for a while. I found it helpful that I could logout of A for a while and log into B.
Five
This is a no-brainer.
Put your phone on silent, your PC on DND and shut down every social media notification.
And do one task at a time.
Yep, I'm done.
Wish you luck today.
Ciao.
