"Madam secretary"

To be very honest, today's header shits on everything I know about writing "eye-catching, will-definitely-open" email subject lines.

Then again, this is not a marketing email. Lol.

Yesterday, I wrote an email to my team that starts off like this—

My current watch is Madam Secretary on Netflix. It is about a retired CIA agent who was thrown into the pangs of politics as the new Secretary of State after her predecessor died. Every episode was a problem bigger than the last—with insane deadlines.

Today, I'm going to talk a bit more about this series that has me closing Netflix every 3 episodes so I can actually get work done.

I have apparently fallen in love with movies and the political operations. It is wild, Praise. Very wild!

But how does this relate to my email to the team?

Another part of the email read—

Today, we begin our own fight, as a team, to tell a story to the world—that we provide the chance for African FinTechs to scale globally.

What interests me the most about series like 24, Designated Survivor and Madam Secretary is how they execute. It is livid. It's like molly to me. It is either 1 or 0.

You either got the treaty signed or you didn't. You either averted a war, or there is World War 3. You either win a negotiation, or a hostage gets killed. The stakes are always high.

The higher the stakes, the lesser time you have to fix it. And even though it is a movie, I am always amazed by how shit gets done every goddamn time.

I guess, it's my inspiration now—"to not think about inspiration, and just figure out what the stakes are".

And like I told the team—

Like Tom Kirkman said in Designated Survivor, "we’re gonna do our jobs. And we’re gonna keep doing them until someone makes us stop."—and if I might add, we are going to do it damn well.

Cheers to excellence ...

Happy Tuesday, fam.
