I'm shit proud of myself
Praise, it's weird how fast time flies. I could swear that it was only 2 days I missed my letters for. It's actually been five days.
Five fucking days! Lol.
See, I'm excited! I'm giddy about something that happened yesterday. Yikes! O ja mi lara je! Lol. I really am excited. I'll tell you the whole story, I promise—what else would you expect?
First, read this:
The Giza Pyramid, or a tiny little spot in a Rwandan village, view Africa from a magnifying glass or a telescope. Immerse yourself into the ocean of atoms that make up the cultures of Africa. Interact with the people that brighten the Black Continent. Genuinely show appreciation for the way of life and the stock of memories that Africa offers.
In case you missed it—I, Oluwapraise, wrote that shit.
July 2021.
It's June actually. Josh hit me up via email asking for a quote for his brand design. It's the first time anyone had ever hit me up via email showing genuine interest.
How he found me is a story for another day.
I responded excitedly and sent him a Google Sheets document. My work at TechAdvance has me using a lot of rows and columns to make sense of what I'm doing.
In the document, it had the three phases of the project, how long it'd take and how much it cost.
A call later and a few questions, we didn't get to negotiate on the price. He was in. Josh started his business pitch by saying, "I want to sell purposeful travel; to give travellers reason to travel beyond leisure"
A week before we started, technical issues came up and the project was postponed for a month.
July, we started.
Sessions, meetings, calls, chats—and three months later, we had a concise brand strategy and a sleek brand identity system—mostly led by Damilare Stark.
Josh and I would talk about work, his nephew, my job, Africa, and so much more. Every call, he'd take time to answer each question—slowly reevaluating his business model as we talked through it.
Amazing work tbh!
And this presentation? I was more impressed at the work I did than he was blown. Fam! It was really good.
Imagine writing something and feeling so endeared to the brand in realtime.
Because we will meet new people every day, we are genuinely interested in learning what makes them tick and how we can satisfy their needs.
To everyone we meet, our first reaction is, “happy to see you; what’s your name?”
I love this brand a lot, and I am rooting to see it grow. True brands are built on a personal conviction, not logical theory. Brands are not discovered with numbers. They're not cared for by the bottomline. They're not nurtured by ROI.
True brands are a product of belief and loyalty.
The work I just did will achieve that—100%—for Joshua.
I'm excited tbh, and I'm pouring all of this excitement into the new week—it's a busy week ahead. I have a lot of writing and creative direction to do. Lol.
On my WhatsApp today, I'll be sharing goofy stuff between my CEO and I, cos it's a Sunday. Lol.
I also recently thought of a free webinar. It's been a while I had one. What do you think? What do you want me to talk about?
I love you, I mean it. I love you a lot.
Ciao.
Please write back to me about the webinar. I'm serious about it.
Ciao again.
