Career progression
Praise, I am lucky.
I've had the rare opportunity to chart out my career in an unprecedented manner. I call it rare because I didn't recognise the bubble I was living in until two days ago [on Monday].
It turns out that I still do not have the answer to how I've grown or learnt the things I know now. I also find it hard to now contribute to career journey conversations, because the field I find myself in is nuanced in so many ways.
Yes, you could say I had some foresight. Everything I do now was carefully chosen—some at lightening speed; others took a year and a half. I had the right people to reference, the right books to read, the resources to learn, and the money to pay for some more.
Even now, I'm gunning for a Design MBA that costs north of £4,000 in March. I have Illustration, Animation & Typography courses on Domestika, a yearly subscription of MasterClass sessions, a foray into Web 3.0 with a course on Blockchain Essentials, and some more.
Alongside my luck, I have always sacrificed to learn what I know. And even when it is a free advice from a mentor or a friend, I give back in some way or pay it forward.
I guess that's my secret—and everyone who's grown immensely [talking about the 23x dude too].
The greater the risk, the greater the reward.
So if you want to learn better or new, the new question to ask is "to get what I want, what does the world want to collect?"
And maybe things might change for you. It did for me.
Ciao.
